Holy Mama we’re in week 4! We are getting down to the wire here in our One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling it Home.
If you’re just joining me (HI!) and you can start with our initial plans here.
I wish I could say we’ve made HUGE progress, but we are still slow and steady. That’s okay…it WILL get done. Mr. Wright (aka the husband) has been working hard on plans for our shining star of the room, the built ins. After many tweaks, revisions, and trips to the hardware store later he has a plan and is building and making cuts as I write!
So here’s where we are-
Because we’re weeks away from the reveal it’s SO important we order all. the. things. to ensure enough time for processing and shipping. So finalizing our built in plans was a must so that we could order our picture light’s (and many other things) to go above the bookcases. Lemme tell you figuring that out was no small feat…
First here’s how fancy they are:
LOVE! Our built ins are composed of 5 Ikea Billy Bookcases of varying width which posed a challenge in determining how many lights we needed. One above each bookcase? 3? 4?
We resorted to the ol painters tape method!
Here’s a reminder of where the built ins are going-

WOW! those are going to be awesome!!!
I do like the navy but that depends on all of your other plans and items for the room. I'm sure you made the right decision and everything will look great! Love all your inspiration.
Oh man, my vote would have been for Naval, but I love Peppercorn, too! I am painting my entryway in Anchors Aweigh right now, which is very very similar to Naval. 🙂 Can't wait to see these finished!
I love the peppercorn background! Can't wait to see how they look. I love built in bookshelves!
This is going to look SO great! Can't wait to see – I love the lights you chose.
They will turn out nicely despite the tough decisions. It is nice that your husband is willing to help you in all of this so you could have it done for reveal day.
I'm actually surprised you didn't go with the pink for the built ins, though, I do really like the peppercorn color. These built ins are going to be ahhhmazing when they're done! Can't wait to se how they look.
I cannot wait to see those built-ins. I know exactly why your husband ripped those floors up. We were contemplating what to do about our wood floors too in our bedroom where the custom armoire/closet was being installed. Good luck with all the other projects. Can't wait to see more.
Thank you Rachel!! Im hoping I did too haha
Thanks Cassie!
Oh yes, I definitely know that color! I swear I have the Sherwin William deck memorized!
Thanks Emy! I can't wait either!
Thanks Amanda! I love them too!
hahahaha you know my Sarah! Buttttt i couldn't quite find the right shade without it looking like a little girls room!
hahah Zan, he has no choice 😉 Just kidding he actually loves the work, we just need more hours in the day!
Yah, he's a smart one that guy. Thanks!
What a professional job, you should be so proud of your gorgeous self.
Maria, Can't wait.
Can't wait to see more, Colette! It's looking great {and thanks for the shout-out!} and it's always good to go with your gut feeling on color. I know you'll love peppercorn, it's a great choice.
The lights – love them.
Oh my Colette, your room is really going through an amazing transformation. I love the way the design plans look like! Your hubby did such a great job with the base for the build ins! I so can't wait to see the final room!
I can't wait to see the reveal! It's going to be amazing! I was hoping you would not choose the pink! Win ! Win!

I can't wait to see the finished result of the built in shelves! It's going to look amazing!
I actually really like the peppercorn, but excited to see what you pick.
Those built-ins are going to be amazing! We put built-ins on one wall when we finished our basement and it definitely adds that WOW factor to a room.
I found your blog through OTC and love your design style! I wanted to order something using the ATG coupon code and it doesn't work. Did it expire already?
Hi Sarah! Unfortunately that code did expire, however, I will have new one for my readers on Friday so stay tuned! Thanks for the sweet words!
